CYD Campus Conference 2025
The annual Cyber-Defence Campus (CYD Campus) Conference will take place in the Kursaal Bern on 29 October 2025. From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., the Conference will be dedicated to the topic «The Role of Cyber in Conflicts and (Hybrid) Warfare» and will offer a diverse programme with high-profile speakers from politics, research and industry.

armasuisse Science and Technology’s CYD Campus Conference is aimed at specialists and interested parties from the government, science and industry and also offers, in addition to content input, numerous opportunities for exchanging ideas with subject matter experts.
The morning will start with a welcoming address by Bernhard Tellenbach, Head of the Cyber-Defence Campus. The Conference will then be opened with a keynote from Dr. Markus Mäder, State Secretary for Security Policy. After this, Marcus Willett, Senior Adviser for Cyber at the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), will speak about the role of cyber operations in conflicts. Dr. Myriam Dunn Cavelty from the Center for Security Studies (ETH Zurich) examines what we know and do not know about the impact of cyber operations. This will be followed by Dr. Raphael Meier of armasuisse Science and Technology with a talk on threats and countermeasures of cyber influence operations.
The afternoon offers practical insights into key topics: Iana Peix from Alpiq will talk about the impact of hybrid conflicts on the energy sector, Dr. Anil Kurmus (IBM Research Zurich) will discuss the automated discovery and exploitation of unknown vulnerabilities, and Dr. Camino Kavanagh (King's College London) will highlight further dangers for cyberspace, with a focus on submarine cables as critical infrastructure. Tobias Castagna from the National Cybersecurity Testing Institute (NTC) will also address the conference theme and use examples to show where we stand in terms of vulnerability and what needs to be done to reduce it. The program will be complemented by student thesis pitches from the Cyber-Defence Campus research and the Startup Challenge with pitch sessions and an awards ceremony.
