Taskforce Drones – tactical operation scenarios available
The goal of the Taskforce Drones is to strengthen Switzerland’s defence capacity using Swiss drones. Tactical operation scenarios have been developed to demonstrate the necessary specifications and capabilities of the systems required for this purpose. These illustrate possible operations of the Swiss Armed Forces and serve industry and research as a basis for the needs-based development of future drones and systems.

In brief
The Swiss Armed Forces can only fulfil their mission if the developed systems cover their needs. To make these more tangible for industry and research, tactical operation scenarios have been developed and documented in fact sheets. These do not contain either binding doctrine or strategic guidelines. The fact sheets are used only for exemplification and to facilitate a better assessment of possible requirements.
More information on the tactical operation scenarios of the Taskforce Drones
The Taskforce Drones has worked with the Swiss Armed Forces to develop tactical scenarios that demonstrate the possible use of drones. These scenarios have been documented in fact sheets and are now accessible. They show which skills are required for the Taskforce Drones to be able to make a specific contribution towards fulfilling the mission of the Swiss Armed Forces. They aim to serve industry and research as a reference for the needs-based development of future systems and to promote dialogue with the Security-relevant Technology and Industry Base (STIB).
The scenarios illustrate possible tactical scenarios which the Armed Forces could use. They have been shown in deliberately simplified form in the fact sheets and serve as models to better categorise the requirements for the systems in question. They do not contain either binding doctrine or strategic guidelines. Instead, the fact sheets are intended to help make the capability requirements of the Swiss Armed Forces more comprehensible. The human being is involved in all these operation scenarios – these are “human in the loop” or “human on the loop” scenarios.
The fact sheets are structured along selected focus topics of the Taskforce Drones. Various scenarios and specific use cases are demonstrated within each focus topic. Manufacturers and development partners are invited to contribute to one or more of these subject areas according to their expertise and develop systems which are aligned to the capabilities and needs shown. will remain active until 2027. During this period, systems that are still under development will also be evaluated and tested with the troops.
Specific solution approaches based on the operation scenarios in the form of production-ready systems as well as new project submissions should be sent to taskforce.drohnen@ar.admin.ch. If you have any questions, please also contact the Taskforce Drones at this email address.
