armasuisse Real Estate is the real estate competence centre of the DDPS and is responsible for around 24,000 hectares of land and 7000 buildings and facilities of the Swiss Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport (DDPS). The real estate portfolio is one of the most extensive and diverse real estate portfolios in Switzerland. It comprises infrastructures for administration and operations, training, deployment, logistics and support. Properties such as military training areas, shooting ranges, barracks and military air bases are as much a part of the inventory as bunkers, arsenals, underground facilities, mountain installations and complex simulator buildings.

The diversified portfolio offers unique professional challenges for portfolio, facility and building managers as well as for project managing building owners. Their expertise is required in three different business units, which make their contributions to professional and sustainable overall solutions over the entire life cycle of a property at various locations in Switzerland:

Portfolio and Environmental Management manages the ambitious real estate portfolio with an eye to the future. It develops holistic solutions for the individual infrastructure requirements of customers and aims to deal in a sustainable manner with real estate that is no longer required for operations.

Facility Management is responsible for the management of properties and facilities. It plans and commissions its value retention and ensures the secure and smooth operation of the real estate.

In close cooperation with the Swiss construction industry, Construction Management implements several hundred new, conversion, renovation and maintenance projects each year.
