Annual Report Cyber-Defence Campus 2025
The Cyber-Defence Campus (CYD Campus) of armasuisse Science and Technology (S+T) is publishing its Annual Report 2025. This offers the cyber community and other interested parties comprehensive insights into the diverse activities of the CYD Campus over the past year. The report provides an overview of the research and innovation projects, technology and market monitoring and the structure of the cyber trainings.

In brief
The Annual Report provides information on the activities and tasks of the Cyber-Defence Campus (CYD Campus) in 2025. These include early recognition of cyber trends, research and innovation of new cyber technologies as well as training of cyber specialists. In particular, the Annual Report provides information on important strategic developments and goals.
The security situation in cyberspace remained tense in 2025. Between April and September alone, the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) reported 164 security incidents affecting critical infrastructures. To counter these and many other threats and to strengthen Switzerland’s cyber resilience, continuous and consistent commitment of all public and private stakeholders is required. The Cyber-Defence Campus (CYD Campus) of armasuisse Science and Technology (S+T) is making an important contribution here by anticipating, monitoring and driving technological developments in the area of cyber defence.
One focus of the CYD Campus in 2025 was to strengthen cooperation with the Swiss start-up ecosystem and academic institutions. The Cyber Start-up Challenge 2025, which addressed the topic “Graph Analytics Technologies”, offered innovative companies a platform to present their promising solutions. The start-up Pometry won the competition. The award-winning technology will be demonstrated next year by a proof-of-concept involving administrative bodies. Promoting talent remains a priority of the CYD Campus. More than 30 students, 10 trainees and 20 Fellows took part in workplace training and research projects on topics such as automated security tests, the security of artificial intelligence, post-quantum cryptography and electronic identities. Over the whole year, the CYD Campus strengthened dialogue and exchange with Swiss industry and academia by organising various activities and networking events, in which representatives from science, industry and the Federal Administration took part. One particular highlight was the CYD Campus Conference, which took place on 29 October in Bern and brought together almost 300 participants to discuss “The role of cyber in conflicts and (hybrid) warfare”. Moreover, two hackathons with the focus topics satellite security and building automation and control systems offered the participants from various sectors the opportunity to gain practical experience and exchange knowledge. The hackathons contribute to promoting cross-sector cooperation in coping with current and future challenges in the area of cybersecurity.
In the area of anticipation and monitoring of technologies, the CYD Campus continued to focus on quantum technologies in 2025. It also published a twice-yearly report on the subject and summarised the findings to date in a book produced by Springer Nature in December 2025.
The research activities are a cornerstone of the CYD Campus’ mission. In close cooperation with partners from science, industry and the Federal Administration, the Campus published more than 50 academic papers on topics such as artificial intelligence, large language models, security tests, quantum computing, security in space technology and protection in communication networks. The CYD Campus also played an important role once again in 2025 in the identification and responsible disclosure of numerous security gaps in software and devices. It thus contributes significantly to the protection and resilience of Switzerland’s digital infrastructure. These successes underscore the continuing importance of the CYD Campus as a leading institution for innovation, research and talent promotion in the area of cybersecurity in Switzerland.
