The Competence Sectors
armasuisse consists of four competence sectors and one business unit. The «Procurement» competence sector is responsible for the evaluation, procurement, management and disposal of complex systems and goods for the Swiss Armed Forces. «armasuisse Real Estate» is the real estate competence centre of the DDPS and «Science and Technology», the technology centre of the DDPS. The business unit «Resources and Support» ensures compliance with procurement law, financial budget legislation and other directives of the Federal Administration on quality and security. The competence sector «Strategic Staff» is responsible for the strategic support and discharge of the National Armaments Director as well as the top management of armasuisse.

Competence sector Procurement
The competence sector «Procurement», as the central purchasing body is responsible for all purchases of goods and services for the Swiss Armed Forces, the Confederation and other customers in the area of responsibility of armasuisse. The emphasis here is on successful project management for evaluating and purchasing complex systems, goods and services for the Armed Forces. Here, particular emphasis is placed on ensuring technical system integrity over the entire life cycle – from introduction to operation, through to environmentally sound disposal at the end of the useful life.
The competence sector «Procurement» comprises eight technical specialist areas which cover the thematic responsibilities of the competence sector «Procurement», as well as a comprehensive area «Commerce, Procurement Control and Quality Management».

The competence sector «Commerce, Procurement Control and Quality Management» ensures, on a cross-functional basis, standardised commercial management of the projects and procurements as well as independent quality management.
Competence sector Science and Technology
The competence sector «Science and Technology» tests and evaluates the operational capability, functionality and efficiency as well as the security requirements of current and future systems of the Swiss Armed Forces and other customers.
Competence sector armasuisse Real Estate
The competence sector «armasuisse Real Estate» performs the role of the owner representative for the broadly diversified portfolio of the DDPS. Its portfolio comprises building constructions on military training areas, shooting ranges and airbases, underground facilities, as well as complex simulator buildings and antenna systems on high-altitude locations.
Business unit Resources and Support
The business unit «Resources and Support» ensures compliance with procurement law, financial budget legislation and other directives of the Federal Administration on quality and security.
