«Technological responsibility for the security of Switzerland»

armasuisse Science and Technology (S+T) is the technological centre of the Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport (DDPS). We develop future-oriented solutions for the security of Switzerland.

We research cutting-edge technologies, develop innovative technological solutions and test current and future systems. We support the armed forces, the DDPS and other organisations in security tasks with our expertise. As a special unit of the Confederation, we network science, industry and authorities.

Research, innovation and testing

Close-up on sensors and cameras
We align our research to the needs of the armed forces, together with the Armed Forces Planning Division. On the one hand, we create scientific bases which we need to fulfil our tasks. Secondly, our research projects provide access to technologies and approaches which are only visible and usable through targeted research.

In the area of innovation, we address gaps in expertise in the armed forces and in the DDPS. We utilise rapid technical progress and take into account the increasing complexity of networked systems. We develop technological solutions for the challenges of the DDPS, together with consumers, industry and universities.

In testing, we evaluate and assess systems. We test their performance and technical integrity. We can thus ensure that the requirements and technical functional reliability of the armed forces’ systems are met over their entire life cycle.
