New Swiss ambassadors
Bern, 26.11.2025 — As part of the FDFA's periodic rotation policy and on the basis of appointments made by the Federal Council, personnel changes will be made and ambassadorial titles conferred in 2025 and 2026 at several Swiss representations as well as at the Federal Department of Home Affairs (FDHA) and the Federal Department of Finance (FDF).
Appointments
Alexandra Baumann has been appointed ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Republic of Singapore and the State of Brunei Darussalam, based in Singapore.
Rebekka Benesch has been appointed ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Slovak Republic, based in Bratislava.
Gregorio Bernasconi has been appointed ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Sultunate of Oman, based in Muscat.
Alain Gaschen has been appointed ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the United Mexican States and Belize, based in Mexico City.
Christine Honegger Zolotukhin has been appointed ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Tajikistan, based in Astana.
Martin Maier has been appointed ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Barbados, Grenada, the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, the Republic of Suriname, the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, and as Switzerland's representative to the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), based in Caracas.
Nicole Ruder has been appointed ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Republic of Lebanon and chargée d'affaires to the Syrian Arab Republic, based in Beirut.
Fabienne Wassermann has been appointed ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Georgia, based in Tbilisi.
Marion Weichelt Krupski has been appointed ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, based in Algiers.
Conferment of ambassadorial titles elsewhere
Philippe Ankers has been awarded the title of ambassador for his current role as head of the International Affairs Division at the Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office (FSVO) in the Federal Department of Home Affairs (FDHA) in Bern.
Fritz Ammann, has been awarded the title of ambassador for his current role as head of the Tax Division at the State Secretariat for International Finance (SIF) in the Federal Department of Finance (FDF) in Bern.
