Federal Councillor Albert Rösti to open AI for Good Global Summit in July
Biel/Bienne, 24.03.2026 — In early July 2026, Geneva will host three international conferences on artificial intelligence and the information society. The AI for Good Global Summit, which will be opened by Federal Councillor Albert Rösti, will take centre stage.
The AI for Good Global Summit, which will be held at Palexpo in Geneva from 7 to 10 July 2026, is the leading global platform dedicated to the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to promote sustainable and inclusive development. Federal Councillor Albert Rösti, head of the Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications, will deliver a speech at the opening of the event. The summit is being organised by the International Telecommunication Union in partnership with some 40 United Nations agencies and co-hosted with Switzerland. The event showcases the role played by International Geneva as a major hub for innovation and multilateral cooperation in the fields of digital technology and artificial intelligence.
On 6 and 7 July, Geneva will also host the first United Nations Global Dialogue on AI Governance, established by a UN General Assembly resolution. This new platform will bring together governments and stakeholders to discuss issues relating to the development and governance of AI. Organised alongside the AI for Good summit, this dialogue will strengthen the links between technical discussions and public policy debates, with Switzerland playing an active role.
In parallel to the AI for Good Summit will be the WSIS Forum (World Summit on the Information Society Forum), which will take place from 6 to 10 July. The fact that these events are being held concurrently underscores Switzerland's commitment to promoting an open and inclusive international dialogue on digital technologies, bringing together in a single forum the private sector – with its capacity for innovation – and the policymakers responsible for establishing the frameworks that enable innovation to serve the common good. In 2027 Switzerland is also set to host the next World Summit on Artificial Intelligence.
