Conference

A key task of the CYD Campus is to facilitate the collaboration of science, industry and government in the area of cyber defence. To this end, the CYD Campus regularly organises public events on cyber topics relevant to defence and security. At this year’s conference, experts from academia, government and industry will hold talks on the key topic of security in the age of AI.

The conference will be opened by Christoph Nicolais, CIO of the Kudelski Group. He will provide insights into the latest developments in AI and ChatGPT. This will be followed by presentations on key topics such as security and anti-fraud tools in the age of AI, the important of data protection, the potential of quantum machine-learning and why explainability is a key component in the effective use of AI within cyber intelligence. After a break for lunch, we will welcome Lieutenant General Thomas Süssli, Chief of the Armed Forces, and are looking forward to an interesting introductory presentation. Following this, Dr. Christine Choirat, Head of Section Data Science and AI at the Federal Statistical Office, will speak about AI and ML in the Federal Administration and showcase the challenges and opportunities through the Data Science Competence Centre.

The series of presentations will be rounded off by a podium discussion with high-profile panellists Prof. Dr. Antoine Busselut from the EPFL, Dr. Lilijana Dolamic from CYD Campus, Dr. Andrei Kucharavy from HES-SO Valais-Wallis and Prof. Dr. Mrinmaya Sachan from ETH Zurich. They will discuss the opportunities and threats of large language models. The conclusion of the event is dedicated to the international cyber start-up scene. Here, the three finalists of this year’s CYD Campus Cyber Start-up Challenge will present their submitted technology solutions on the topic of smartphone security. The winning start-up will then be chosen by a jury of experts from the DDPS.
