Dr Roland Meier is the new head of the Cyber Security team

From 1 January 2026, Dr Roland Meier will assume leadership of the Cyber Security team in the division Cyberdefence at armasuisse Science and Technology (S+T). He succeeds Dr Bernhard Tellenbach in this position. The division Cyberdefence warmly congratulates him on his new role.

The Cyber Security team investigates cyber threats and vulnerabilities, develops methods for preventing or remedying them, designs new secure systems and reports security gaps to the responsible offices. In addition, the team advises federal authorities in security-relevant decisions and strengthens the cyber security of Switzerland through partnerships with academia and industry as well as through talent promotion. The academic expertise and practical experience of Roland Meier represent considerable added value for the strategic as well as the technical development of this area.

In his previous role as scientific project manager at the Cyber-Defence Campus (CYD Campus) Roland Meier was particularly committed to the security and protection of computer networks and their users as well as the automation of cyber defence using artificial intelligence.

Roland Meier received his doctorate from ETH Zurich in 2022. In his doctoral thesis, he researched how new technologies can be used in the area of network programmability to improve the security of computer networks.

The division Cyberdefence is delighted that Roland Meier has accepted this new challenge and looks forward to further cooperation with great confidence. The division Cyberdefence wishes him a successful start and every success in his new role.
