In addition to the remarkable progress in the use of renewable energies for heat and power generation, the electrical usage of such energies for mobility purposes is becoming more and more part of everyday life, not just in passenger transport, but also increasingly in freight logistics. While continuously committed to following this development, the DDPS has also long been facing the demand for a sustainable provision, storage and efficient usage of the energies required for defence and civil protection. On this occasion, we are taking the opportunity to offer interested parties another overview of the projects essential for defence at armasuisse in this regard and of the relevant research and development in the defence environment. The core issue of this event remains the energy self-sufficiency and sustainability of defence and security taking into consideration renewable energies. A subject which cannot be restricted to the energy supply of fixed locations alone but which must also address the specific requirements of the mobile deployment systems on land, sea and in the air.
