Bern, 07.09.2021 – An event on the topic of «Defence against Micro- and Minidrones» will take place on 9 September 2021 in the military training area Bure (JU). This event is organised by armasuisse Science and Technology together with the Combat Training Centre West of the Swiss Armed Forces. The aim is to enable representatives from the Federal Administration and Armed Forces, as well as from authorities and organisations for security and rescue to obtain insights into current drone technologies.

Members of the Armed Forces and the police, as well as representatives of the administration and authorities and organisations for rescue and security will have the opportunity to participate in the event on the topic of «Defence against Micro- and Minidrones» on 9 September 2021. The background is that civil but also military organisations are using drones for various different tasks on an increasing basis. As a consequence, mini- and microdrones could become a threat for the population.

The Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport DDPS takes these facts into account and is actively engaged with drone defence. armasuisse Science and Technology is thus exploring concepts for defence against drones, in order to be able to ensure the security of the Swiss people against the misuse of small drones as well as drone attacks now and in the future.

This event is organised together with the Combat Training Centre West of the Swiss Armed Forces. The aim is to provide attendees with insights into the current status of drone defence and drone technologies, as well as to enable the exchange of ideas and knowledge with experts. Such events consolidate interdisciplinary and open cooperation between research, government, industry and the task forces.
