Between ice hockey and Excel – how Nik Lehmann manages career and high-performance sport

Ice hockey and office job, not a conflict for Nik Lehmann. The KV sports apprentice at armasuisse trains on the ice almost every day and at the same time is in the middle of his apprenticeship. With discipline, good organisation and a lot of support, he manages the balancing act between high-performance sport and career.
Since August 2023, Nik has been doing his sports apprenticeship at armasuisse, which he learned about at a career fair where armasuisse was represented. He has been fascinated by the diversified work and the insight into various different departments from the beginning.
During the season, the daily routine is strictly organised – training in the morning, office in the afternoon, school in between. To make this balance work, Nik benefits from a reduced workload and a lot of support by armasuisse and from his family. The apprentice camp is one of his personal highlights – an experience that boosted solidarity and additionally motivated him.
Sport teaches him discipline and perseverance. He also benefits from these qualities in his everyday work. He’s particularly proud of his debut in the National League and his first goal which was the crowning glory of his sporting development to date. He recharges his batteries during his free time with family and friends.
Even though it’s a demanding path, he sees the combination of apprenticeship and sport as a valuable basis for the future. His goal remains professional sport – but the commercial training offers him a solid second mainstay.
