Rental of Real Estate

For each private use of military real estate the conformity of zone and the civilian construction permit are prerequisites. However, the majority of military real estate is not in a residential-, business- or industrial zone, since based on legal requirements the military buildings were formerly built without a civilian construction permit. Moreover, most buildings do not meet the civilian building regulations with respect to safety and fire protection.

In most cases, therefore, a rental or private use of military real estate is not possible. In exceptional cases the short-term rentals mentioned below and rentals for major events are amongst others possible.

Short-term rental is limited to a maximum of 1 month. This includes quarters, messes, kitchens, lecture halls, multipurpose-halls etc. For additional information, please consult the internet site of

Basically military real estate can be rented for major events at usual market prices. Events with more than 500 participants such as openairs, concerts, circus, markets, air shows etc. are considered major events.
