The procurement sector - consisting of the competence sectors "Command and Control & Reconnaissance Systems", "Aeronautical Systems", "Land Systems", as well as "Purchasing and Cooperations" - is the reliable and efficient partner for a great variety of procurements. The four competence sectors are responsible for the active participation in the customers' planning process, the strategic procurement and sales management, the operational realisation of evaluation, procurement, sale and disposal, and for support during the utilisation and servicing phases. Their main partner is the departemental sector defence, represented in particular by the Armed Forces Planning Staff and the Armed Forces Logistics Organisation. The Planning Staff is responsible for armament planning, as customer states the needs of the armed forces, and lays down the requirements. Within the procurement process armasuisse implements the specifications defined by the orderers from armed forces and administration.

- technology and research management. This includes technoloy monitoring, the performance of research projects as well as national and international networking with universities, research, industry as well as multilateral research and development projects.
W+T operates a firing tunnel which is unique throughout the world. Services in the areas ballistics, diagnostics of explosives, electromagnetic compatibility, electronics and optronics are also available to private customers.
Real estate management
With around 26 000 hectares and 26 000 objects the DDPS is Switzerland's biggest owner of real estate. armasuisse Real Estate is responsible for the real estate management within the DDPS; it acts as representative of the owner and offers its services in two product categories: the core inventory and the disposable inventory. The core inventory is made up of real estate which the armed forces will need also in the future to accomplish their tasks. Here services in the areas new developments, reconstruction, renting and operation are provided. Then there is the real estate available for liquidation, which the DDPS no longer needs. Here various forms of realisation are sought (sale, renting out to third parties, dismantling).
Federal Office of Topography (swisstopo)
As federal competence sector the Federal Office of Topography swisstopo offers high quality geographical reference data and derived products; introduces basic geodetic, topographic and geological data and the data of the official cadastral survey into the national spatial data infrastructure, and operates the coordination center for geoinformation and geographic information systems. The National Spatial Data Infrastructure is established to promote the interoperability of digital geographical data between the various suppliers and users, and to increase their use throughout the national economy.
